Bandipora, Aug 4 (KNS): The 69th annual Urs Mubarak of renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah (RA), popularly known as Nanga Baji Sahib (RA), commenced on Tuesday at Malangam village in north Kashmir's Bandipora district, marking the beginning of a seven-day spiritual gathering that draws thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country.

 

The annual Urs is being held at the residence of his grandson, Syed Welayat Hussain Shah Chishti, who is the Sajadah Nasheen (custodian) of the revered shrine and is overseeing all proceedings.

 

The inaugural day witnessed recitation of the Holy Quran, Naat Khawani, and special congregational prayers, with devotees offering supplications for lasting peace, prosperity, and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir and across the country.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

 

Hazrat Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah (RA), affectionately remembered as Nanga Baji Sahib (RA), is revered as one of the region's most respected Sufi saints, known for his piety, spirituality, and teachings of love, compassion, and unity. His shrine at Malangam remains a major spiritual destination, attracting thousands of devotees every year during the Urs.

 

The seven-day Urs celebrations will continue till August 10, featuring religious gatherings, recitation of the Holy Quran, devotional prayers, and other spiritual programmes under the supervision of Syed Welayat Hussain Shah Chishti, the Sajadah Nasheen of the holy shrine.

 

The annual Urs is regarded as one of the significant spiritual events in the district, with devotees from different parts of the Valley and beyond expected to participate throughout the week. (KNS)
