Bandipora, Sep 26 (KNS): The week-long Maj Gopi Singh Rathore, SC Memorial North Kashmir Football Premier League culminated on Saturday, bringing together 68 football teams from across North Kashmir and providing young players with a competitive platform to showcase their talent and sporting spirit.

Organised by the Indian Army across Bandipora, Uplona, Kigaon and Sopore, the tournament witnessed intense competition and enthusiastic participation from young footballers, besides drawing strong support from football enthusiasts and local communities.

The successful league phase has paved the way for the much-awaited Mega Football Championship, with the top two teams from each of the four locations qualifying for the concluding stage.

The eight qualifying teams will now compete for the coveted championship title at Bandipora from November 9 to 13, 2026, marking the final and most anticipated phase of the tournament.

With 68 teams participating in the league phase, the championship has also highlighted the growing enthusiasm for football and the sporting potential of youth across North Kashmir.(KNS)
