6000 vehicles stranded as Sgr-Jammu highway closed again

Srinagar, Nov 15 (KNS): Over 6000 vehicles have got stranded along the Srinagar-Jammu national highway since Thursday evening due to the landslides which blocked the 264-km road at several places.

SSP Traffic (Rural) Mubashir Shah while talking to KNS correspondent Tasaduq Rashid said landslides triggered due to rains blocked the highway near Tikri and Digdol since last evening.

“More than 6000 vehicles, which include light motor vehicles and trucks, are stranded along the highway. Men and machinery has been pressed to clear the road and if weather remains clear, we are hopeful that the highway will be opened soon,” he told KNS.

The SSP said that only stranded vehicles will be allowed to move for onward journey after the highway is cleared. “Passengers are requested to contact respective traffic control rooms before travelling on the highway,” Shah added. (KNS)
