Srinagar, Oct 06 (KNS) : The Sub Centre in Gamroo village of North Kashmir's Bandipora district, which caters to over 5,500 residents, has been struggling to provide basic healthcare due to conflicting orders, unimplemented relocation directives, and staff absences.

As per the official orders accessed by the Kashmir News Service (KNS), Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bandipora on Monday issued an order transferring one of the staffers, Haneefa Gaffar, to another health facility. The order cited a direction from the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), except that the ACR has denied issuing any such order at all, making the transfer technically baseless.

Despite the denial, the BMO executed the transfer. Within hours, a corrigendum was issued under a slightly changed reference number, retaining the same directive.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Meanwhile, two other workers posted at the same centre were found absent from duty today, with their phones switched off. They were issued explanation notices, but no action was taken to ensure immediate staffing at the centre, leaving it unmanned for patients.

Adding to the neglect is an earlier order issued on 17 September by the Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora, directing the relocation of the Sub Centre Gamroo from a rented house to Patwar Khana Gamroo for better public access. Three weeks on, the relocation has not happened.

Locals said they hope the authorities will take steps to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the health centre, adding that the facility is crucial for the well-being of the entire village.(KNS)
