Cannot afford to lower the guard in Red Zones : DM Pulwama

Pulwama 16 April (KNS): District Administration Pulwama today started 4th round of the Screening cum surveillance in red Zone declared areas in the District.
According to the Health officials the Screening cum surveillance will continue in all Red Zone declared villages including Khaigam, Sangerwani, Abhama of Tehsil Rajporaand Gudoora, Chandgam, Pinglena and Parigam of Tehsil Pulwama till the possibility of a new case is completely ruled out.
These areas have become more vulnerable for transmission after three patients hailing from these red Zones was tested positive , spiking the number of contacts in the district.
District Magistrate, Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer reiterated that the authorities cannot afford of having any relaxation in restrictions imposed in these areas. He said that there is complete embargo on inward and outward movement of people from the villages declared red zones .He appealed the people to stay indoors and ensure complete lockdown .
DM hailed the role of volunteers in fortifying the efforts of the administration for the containment of COVID-19 in these areas.
He said the efforts of Volunteers and Village level surveillance Teams have reinforced the efforts of authorities in having a complete control over the situation.
He said the that the voluntary organisations and civil society can further the cause of abating COVID-19.
He said Muncipal Committee Pulwama has been regularly fumigating the Red Zone areas whereas the administration has put in place all arrangements in place to provide basic facilities to the people till surveillance period is ended .
Earlier District Authorities booked 8 persons violating the Government orders in Red Zones where section 269 IPC( unlawfully or negligently doing something which is likely to spread infection of any dangerous disease to life) , section 270 IPC ( malignant act likely to spread infection of dangerous disease to life), section 271 IPC (knowingly disobeying any quarantine rule) and section 188 IPC ( for disobeying the Government orders) were invoked .
DM warned of stern action against anyone violating the orders. He reiterated that their would be zero tolerance against the people endangering thousands of lives. He added that violating Govt orders shall invoke penal action and prosecution proceedings shall be initiated without second thought.As the restrictions are being intensified , people from Red zone villages are appealed to contact 24*7 COVID Control Room (01933240412,01933240912) for COVID-19 queries and emergencies.
Moreover People hailing from the Red zone villages have been asked to contact round the clock (24*7) District Emergency Control room in case of any greviance regarding the essential services & other issues. In this regard people are requested to contact on Landline No's (01933- 240354) (KNS).
