‘Devotees in thousands throng shrine’

Srinagar, Oct 26 (KNS): People on Wednesday observed the 597th Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) with religious fervor and gaiety across Kashmir.
The three long Urs of the Kashmiri saint commences from today while the special prayers are expected to be held on Friday.
On the first day of Urs, the largest peoples gathering was held at shrine of Chrar-i-Sharief in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district where thousands of devotees paid obeisance to the Kashmiri saint.
Despite the shutdown called by the separatist leaders, devotees from different parts of Kashmir in private vehicles thronged the Shrine in Chrar-i-Sharief and offered special prayers there.
Religious scholars and preachers while paying rich tributes to the saint appealed people to follow the teachings of Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA).
Scholars said that the Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA) was a true teacher, leader, saint, a religious poet, a devoted personality who taught everyone the perfect way life and hereafter.
Meanwhile, according to KNS correspondent, special prayers were held for those who were killed or maimed during the ongoing uprising in Kashmir.
However, most of the devotees said that the arrangements put in place by the Waqf Board were disappointing.
Witnesses said that the arrangements for the thousands of devotees were put in place by the Youth Citizens council and Alamdar traders Union. (KNS)
