Inaugurates Additional Block for GHSS, Sports Ground at Lalpora

Baramulla, September 23 (KNS): Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan today observed that efficient and smooth public service delivery through prompt and timely redressel of public grievances, essential for effective and welfare governance. He said that the ambitious programmes viz ongoing Jan Abhiyan and the upcoming B2V3 as milestones which aim to improve the public service delivery viz-a-viz extending governance at the peoples door-steps.
Advisor was speaking at a mega function organized at Lalpora block of Baramulla district in connection with 2nd Block Divas celebrated across the district.
While urging the people to come forward with their developmental aspirations and needs, the Advisor informed that government is keen towards achieving saturation in individual beneficiary schemes.
Reiterating the administration's commitment for providing essential services including power and water supply, in a smooth and hassle free manner, Advisor Khan said that concerned functionaries are being mobilized with special focus to rural and remote areas. Moreover, he said that administration is exploring every possibility to empower PRIs so that better and efficient governance at grass root level is achieved. He also urged upon them to play a proactive role in the journey of development.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo presents the welcome address during which he highlighted the developmental scenario of the district besides presenting the aims and objectives of jan Abhiyan. He also highlighted the performance recorded by the district in various sectors especially those identified under the previous phases of Back to Village programmes and said that up gradation of basic infrastructure in different sectors has been one of the priority areas of the district administration.
Dr too informed that government has released Rs 10 lakh to every panchayat halqa in which Rs 20,000 shall be utilized on purchasing sports items as a move to promote sports culture among our youth.
Meanwhile, the Advisor distributed various certificates and equipments which include Income, Domicile, e-ration tickets, KCC sanction letters, authority letters for farming equipments among the identified beneficiaries. He also distributes some sports kits among the aspiring and enthusiastic players belonging to the area. The Advisor also distributes cheques worth Rs 1.70 crore as financial assistance sponsored by the Labour department.
Various deputations which include BDC chairpersons, PRI representatives among others highlighted their issues and demands meant for the overall development of the area wherein they sought the Advisor's personal intervention for resolving them in a time bound manner.
Secretary Sports Council, SSP Baramulla, SDMs of Gulmarg and Pattan, heads of various departments, district and sectoral officers besides a huge gathering of people showed their overwhelming participation.
Earlier, the Advisor inaugurates additional block for Govt Higher Secondary School Lalpora that has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 178.15 lakh. He also inaugurates the Sports Ground at the venue that has developed for multipurpose games like cricket, volleyball, football etc. which was highly appreciated by the people.
On the ocassion, the Advisor interacted with the youth who appraised him about their demands and issues pertaining to development of sports activities. He assured them that all their demands shall be looked into adding that various initiatives are afoot in this ragard.
