200 students of Govt. Middle School Lawossa Mawer at risk, being taught in a decade old structure

Handwara, Oct 01 (KNS): Amidst Government of UT J&K is mulling to implement National Education Police (NEP) – 2020, Government Middle School Lawoosa in Mawer area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district is facing acute shortage of infrastructure where more than 200 students has been stationed under a single structure.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), students of GMS Lawoosa in Mawer area of Kupwara allege that almost 200 student of the institution are pursuing their educational career under a single structure which according to logic is insufficient for acquiring knowledge.
They said the building is decades old and is at continuous risk to collapse anytime that can lead a major tragedy in the area.
Locals of the area told KNS that they have brought the matter repeatedly into the notice of higher authorities but of no avail.
“During B2V (1) & (2), the matter was taken up with officials for early resolution but nothing has been done so far”, locals alleged.
When KNS contacted Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Mawer Mohammad Maqbool Lone, he said the matter has already been communicated to Government. However he will call local Sirpanch afresh in this regard and further steps will be taken accordingly.
He assured that the infrastructure of the said school will improved and the concern of local people and students will be addressed. (KNS)
