Srinagar, Nov 16 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory government led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has affirmed 'ease of Living for the residents' as its topmost priority.
The administration, under LG Sinha's leadership, is implementing a comprehensive strategy to address various facets of daily life, with a focus on infrastructure development, public services, and community welfare.
Officials in the administration told KNS that one of the key areas receiving attention is infrastructure development.
“The government is investing heavily in upgrading and expanding transportation networks, including roadways and bridges, to connect remote areas and facilitate smoother commutes. Plans are underway to modernize and augment public transportation, providing residents with more convenient and accessible travel options,” the officials said.
They said that the government is also keen on enhancing the region's digital infrastructure.
“Initiatives have been taken to improve internet connectivity, ensuring that residents have seamless access to online services and information. This move was to bridge the digital divide and empower citizens in various aspects of life, including education, healthcare, and business”.
To streamline public services and make them more citizen-friendly, the LG Sinha-led government is implementing digital solutions.
This includes the development of online portals and mobile applications for various government services, making it easier for residents to avail themselves of essential services without unnecessary hassles”.
The administration is also focusing on improving the efficiency of public service delivery through training programs for government officials.
“By enhancing their skills and embracing modern technologies, the government aims to create a more responsive and accountable bureaucracy, ultimately benefiting the residents”.
Recognizing the importance of community welfare in the overall well-being of the population, the government has launched several social welfare programs.
These initiatives cover a range of sectors, from healthcare and education to housing and employment opportunities.
Under LG Sinha's leadership, efforts are being made to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that quality medical facilities are easily accessible to all residents.

On 28 June 2022, LG Sinha launched the “Ease of Living Index” for Jammu and Kashmir.
Since then it is seen as a tool to measure the ease of living in the region and to identify areas where improvements need to be made.
The index is used to track the progress of the government in improving the ease of living for citizens.
The launch of the Ease of Living Index was a significant step in the government’s efforts to improve the ease of living in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In the last one year the ease of living index helps us to ensure that the government is working in the best interests of the people,” the officials said.
It is to mention here that the government has invested heavily in infrastructure in the Union territory which has led to the construction of new roads, bridges, and the improvement of existing infrastructure, such as the power grid and the water supply system.
According to the government the biggest change in these years is that the common people of Jammu and Kashmir are living life according to their own wishes.(KNS)
