Parra backs Mirwaiz, says peace steps should not be politicize

Srinagar Dec 26 : (KNS) Defending the move of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed Rehman Parra urged people not to politicize, weaponize a step taken in the interest of peace and reconciliation.

In a post on X, Parra drew a parallel with the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, highlighting that difficult decisions made for peace should be seen as acts of wisdom and leadership rather than compromise or weakness. He said Mirwaiz’s move must be understood within the prevailing legal and political circumstances, and not turned into a tool for personal attacks.

The trolling and criticism directed at the Mirwaiz were deliberate attempts to undermine his moral authority and make his already difficult path even harder reminding critics of the immense challenges faced by the Mirwaiz over the years, including the supreme sacrifice of his father, and said such attacks only deepen divisions instead of promoting justice and peace.

Taking to X, Parra posted “In the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, the Prophet ?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channelagreed to erase the words ‘Muhammad-ur-Rasoolullah’—the very foundation of the Kalima—solely in the interest of peace. History remembers this not as compromise, but as wisdom, foresight, and moral courage.

If Mirwaiz Kashmir has removed the APHC tag as an act of peace, it must never be weaponized against him. Choosing peace over rigidity is not weakness; it is leadership. Mirwaiz has acted within the framework of law and circumstances.

Those attacking and trolling him for this decision are deliberately trying to undermine him, making his path harder despite the extraordinary challenges he has endured and the supreme sacrifice of his father. Such attacks do not serve justice or peace; they only deepen division, he posted.
