Pulwama, Dec 08 (KNS): Armed men Thursday barged into a branch of J&K Bank at Arihal village of Pulwama in south Kashmir. As per reports around five armed men entered the bank and looted Rs 13.38 lakh. The gunmen after looting the money also fired some gun shots outside the bank.
Giving details, a senior police official said according to the bank employees, the 13.38 lakhs of amount looted from the bank included 2.23 lakhs old currency notes and 11.15 lakh new currency notes.
Police has launched a search operation in this matter and investigation has been started.
“Some four to five militants barged into the bank, thrashed some employees and broke some computers and fled with the money. Later after they came out they fired some shots in the air,” SP Pulwama Rayees Muhammad Bhat told KNS.
Earlier last month, Rs 12 lakh were looted from the Budgam branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank. The police later arrested few over ground workers of LeT for the crime. (KNS)
