Budgam, Dec 31 (KNS): Four villages in Beerwah — Palapora, Allah Pora, Larkipora, and Mustafa Colony, were disconnected from the electricity supply by the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), residents said, citing non-payment of bills by some consumers.
Locals allaged that the move has left both defaulters and regular payers without power during the chilly winter nights.
“It is unfair that we are all being punished for the negligence of a few. Children and elderly are struggling without heaters,” said Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Palapora.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Another resident, Shabir Khan of Larkipora, added, “Some of us have paid our bills on time, yet we are facing the brunt. The authorities should reconsider this blanket disconnection.”
According to locals, the disconnection has disrupted daily life, including heating, cooking, and essential services in the affected areas. Efforts to contact the local electricity office went unanswered, they said.
Residents have urged the authorities to adopt a more targeted approach rather than penalising the entire community.(KNS).
