SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 25 (KNS): The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited different areas of district Baramulla and held interaction with the farmers of different villages besides monitoring various agriculture activities.

 

The Director met the farmers of different areas on field and took on spot feedback regarding the various interventions introduced by the Department and adopted by the farmers of the area.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director assured the farmers that the Department is committed to provide technical guidance to them during various agriculture activities. He asked the farmers to strictly follow the instructions and guidance provided to them by the department (Extension workers).

He said that the Department is endeavoring to provide farmers with the latest technological interventions during the cultivation of different agricultural crops so that the good returns could be fetched and socio-economic transformation of the farming community of the region could be achieved.

Iqbal directed the concerned officers of the Department to assist and facilitate the farmers during different post harvest management activities and winter cultivation of different agriculture crops. He asked the officers to work shoulder to shoulder with the farming community of the region.

Earlier, the Director distributed Knapsack Sprayers among the farmers.

Later, the Director visited the under construction Tissue culture laboratory which is being established (in the private sector) at Pattan.

The Director was accompanied by Deputy Director Agriculture (central) Wahid-ul-Reham, Chief Agriculture Officer Baramulla Yadwinder Singh, Water use specialist Nelofar Qureshi and other senior officers of the department.

DLSA Ganderbal observes ‘International Day for the elimination of Violence against Women’

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 25: On the eve of ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in collaboration with Government Polytechnic College Hatbura Ganderbal today organised a programme at within the Polytechnic campus Hatbura, Ganderbal.

The event was held under the chairmanship of Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.

The premise of the day was to raise awareness regarding the atrocities committed to women in the form of rape, domestic violence and other means of violence. The day is marked to prevent as well as to respond to the violence against women and to apprise people about the basic human rights of women and gender equality. 

Principal Govt. Polytechnic College Ganderbal, Staff members and students of Govt. Polytechnic College Hatbura Ganderbal, PLVs of DLSA Ganderbal and others attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Shagufta Nabi, explained elimination of violence against women, the physical, psychological sexual forms of encompassing the violence against women. She also made students aware of the Declaration of elimination of violence against women issued by the UN General assembly 1993. 

She enlightened participants about their rights and role of women in the society, effective measures to stop violence against women and gathering information that will help enhance life-saving services for them, besides other related issues were also discussed threadbare in the program. (KNS)
