Chrysanthemum will take our season to the next level: Director Floriculture Mathoora Masoom

Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): Director of Floriculture, Gardens & Parks Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom, on Thursday said that the department will inaugurate a new theme garden dedicated to chrysanthemums this Saturday, underlining the flower’s potential to extend the region’s tourist season beyond the usual autumn bloom.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) she said that,“Chrysanthemum is an autumn flower, this flower is very hard. It will last at least till the end of November,” Masoom said, emphasising the resilience of the flowers and their value for tourism.

She said that while tulips herald spring, chrysanthemums can carry the season into late autumn and early winter.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The garden currently features 50 varieties, Masoom said, adding that this marks only the beginning: “We will be extending it by area as well as the varieties of flowers.”

She commended the gardeners and officers for completing the work and opening the site to the public. “We have been looking forward to decorating this garden. The tourists who come here have a smile on their faces. And we are very happy,” she said.(KNS)
