‘Centre asks anti-graft bodies to fix timeline to decide about corruption cases’

Srinagar, Dec 28 (KNS): Toughening anti-corruption norms in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory further, the Centre has asked the anti-graft bodies to fix a timeline to decide about the cases, sources told KNS.
They said a timeline has been fixed to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) for decision of the cases. “Under new norms, bribe givers will also be made accused under Prevention of Corruption Act unless they justify the reasons within a week for paying bribe to the officials/officers,” sources said.
“The new norms have to be implemented with immediate effect by the anti-graft bodies. This has been made possible only due to conversions of J&K into a UT as the erstwhile State enjoyed special provisions which now have been scrapped,” they said and added earlier the bribe givers were not covered in any of the domestic legislations to check corruption.
