Kupwara, Feb 03: The patients of Sub District Hospital Kupwara on today alleged that the AYUSH doctors in the hospital are running the Gyne ward in the hospital.
The residents said that hospital lacks consultants and hospital is run by Medical officers.
"Due to lack of these consultants, doctors most of the times rush patients to Srinagar hospitals for specialised treatment. It sometimes consumes lives due to long distance from Kupwara to Srinagar," residents said.
Bashir Ahmad a local resident of the area told KNS that the Kupwara is the worst victim of political vendetta.
The height of ignorance is that the District headquarter Kupwara has been deprived of health facility compared to other districts, he said.
They said that the hospital is CHC/SDH on in the papers but the facilities in the hospital are NTPHC level, he said.
People from difficult terrain area like Machil, Keran, Jumgand, and Tangdhar often visit this hospital to get specialised treatment but unfortunately they are being treated by consultants. "Most of the doctors in the OPD of the hospital are AYUSH doctors," locals did.
They also said that the SDH Hospital Kupwara lacks requisite infrastructure, equipments, Doctors and Paramedical staff.
"Hospital is having a shortage of specialists in Gynacology, Paediatrics, Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Orthopaedics," locals said.
A patient came from Trehgam told KNS that his Wife was referred from PHC for Gynae consultation at Kupwara hospital but he came to know that the doctors present in OPD are 'BUMS' doctors
However when contacted to BMO Kupwara, Dr Zaffar, said that the Hospital is facing shortage of doctors as well as other staff (KNS).
