Young Dramatist society presents Kashmiri play ‘Shakespeare’

Srinagar, June 12 (KNS) : Young Dramatists Society on Monday this week presented a Kashmiri play "SHAKESPEARE" at Community Hall Nowshahra, in Srinagar. 

 
According to a statement issued to new agency Kashmir News Service—KNS, the Play was approved by the Sangeet Natak Akademy New Delhi and was co-sponsored by J&K Academy of art culture and languages. The play was supported by J&K Tourism Development Corporation.  
 
The play was written by Dr. Sohan Lal Koul and Directed by well-known theatre director Mr Altaf Hussain. The famous artists of the valley acted in the play.  The play was received and appreciated by the audience. The feature of the play was the plight of drama artist of Jammu and Kashmir was highlighted. 
 
The play highlight the conflict between creator and creation. This crisis deepens and leads to a revolt against the writer. 
 
The play intentionally to understand “Shakespeare” in modern context. The idea was accomplished through his greatest soliloquies where Shakespearean mind is at its Zenith. The dialogues are performed, the characters develop a feel that their writer has done a great injustice to them, starting with Hamlet’s famous dialogue, “to be or not to be”. 
 
In the same manner the other characters also put forth their grievances. Othello performance that it is possible for mind emancipated and knowledge to fall in to trap laid by his subordinated logo and he kills his love. 
 
As per the statement, these characters charge him regarding his biased attitude towards his central character to meet his own ends to satisfy his own confused mind. With this drama runs, its system and its working which again coincides with main themetheme. (KNS)
