Bandipora, Feb 11 (KNS): Wular Conservation and Management Authority (WUCMA) has generated a revenue of around Rs 20 crore from the restoration works of Wular Lake, while around 64 lakh cubic meter silt has been dredged so far.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), WUCMA coordinator, Irfan Rasool Wani said that 1 lakh willows has also been removed from the lake during restoration works. 
 
He said that 64 lakh cubic meter silt has been dredged from an area of 3.10 sqkms during the restoration process.

He said that there were around 20 lakh willows in the Wular, which, after proper environmental impact assessment were removed for its protection.

"So far, we have removed 1 lakh willows from which revenue of Rs 20 crore has been generated. As lake is having so many qualities and tremendous tourism potential, LG Manoj Sinha led administration has gathered pace and allotted funds for its rapid restoration.” 

He said that if restoration work goes at the same pace, the lake will benefit all villagers situated around it in terms of increase in lake's produce like fish, water chestnuts, besides uplifting its tourism significance. (KNS)
