Placements have increased over the past two years on the campus; Director NIT

                    Srinagar, April 26 (KNS): Two-day workshop on 'program accreditation - an outcome-based approach' concluded on Tuesday at the Department of Training and Placements (T&P), National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

 

The workshop was presided over by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal.  He congratulated the department of T&P for organizing a workshop on a relevant topic and for setting a benchmark of getting more than 550 placements.

"Over the past two years, the placements have increased at the NIT Srinagar and good packages are being offered to our students. We will continue this momentum in future so that more students will be placed in well-reputed companies," Prof. Sehgal said.

He said the T&P department played a vital role in preparing students for placements. Such workshops are need of the hour and will act as a helping tool for the institution.

Prof. Sehgal also expressed his gratitude to Prof Konijeti Rama Krishna (guest speaker) for attending the workshop.

Institute's Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari congratulated Head T&P, Dr. Obbu Chandra Sekhar, and his entire team for their work and achievement. He shared his views on outcome-based education and its importance in the professional life of students.

"Now placements have gradually become an integral part of an institute’s offerings and NIT Srinagar will continue such career-friendly initiatives in future," Prof. Bukhari said.

Prof.  Konijeti Rama Krishna, the guest speaker and chief guest of the two-day workshop also added his remarks. He talked about why outcome-based learning is gaining popularity these days and how it is useful for all stakeholders.

On the occasion, Dean Academic Affairs, NIT Srinagar Prof Najeeb ud din highlighted the importance of Outcome-based accreditation in engineering. It is considered as a giant leap forward to improve technical education in India and help our engineers compete with their global counterparts.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Head Department of T&P and Placement Officer, Dr. Obbu Chandra Sekhar welcomed the guests. He thanked Director NIT, Prof. Sehgal for supporting such workshops.

He stated campus placements provide the students with a foot-in-the-door opportunity, enabling them to start off their career right after they have completed their course curriculum.

Dr. Obbu Chandra Sekhar also highlighted the achievements of the department for the past two years.

The inaugural session was attended by all HODs, Deans, and more than 50 faculty members. The event was coordinated by the T&P events team and hosted by Hina Khan, from CSE 2020.

A formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Obbu Chandra Sekhar. He thanked all the students for their participation and promised many more such events in the future.(KNS)
