Woman allegedly killed by in-laws in Palpora Noorbagh, Srinagar, Accused held, Case registered

Srinagar, Nov 20 (KNS): A woman was allegedly killed by her in laws in Palpora area of central Kashmir's Srinagar city on Sunday.


Relatives of the deceased women while speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), said that she has been murdered by her in-laws, as she was being continuously harassed by them. They also held a protest, demanding action against her in-laws. 

The victim Maimoona as per family was a mother of a little girl was was married two years ago in  palpora locality of the city.

"She was attacked with axe directly by her brother-in-law following which she was taken to SMHS hospital by neighbors where during intial treatment she breathed her last," they said, adding that she was a innocent.

They also appealed to the police and the concerned authorities to probe the matter thoroughly, so that culprits are brought to book.

Meanwhile, in a swift action the city police arrested a man accused of murdering his sister-in-law in Palpora Noorbagh. In a tweet, Srinagar Police said that One accused namely Umer Farooq S/o Farooq Ahmed R/o Pamposh Colony, Srinagar arrested for murdering his Sister-in-law( elder Bhabi). "Weapon of offence also recovered on his disclosure in front of magistrate," it said.

The Police further said that a case registered in safakadal PS under relevant sections of murder.(KNS)
