Srinagar August 18 (KNS):   Chairman J&K People's Democratic Front JKPDF and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has expressed serious concern over the move of the government that now onwards , non locals and temporary residents would also be elegible  to cast their votes during  elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued on Wednesday , Hakeem Yaseen said that the intention of the government clearly depicts the game plan  to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir .He said that this conspiracy would be disastrous for the special identity of Jammu and Kashmir and would cause more alienation among the people . He said government plans to add 25 lakh more voters including non locals to  disempower the local populace . He said the move to allow non locals to cast their votes in Jammu and Kashmir would ignite fresh spell of unrest among the people .

PDF Chairman has urged the centre to take serious note  of the situation and avoid every step that may cause mistrust among the people towards mainstream . He said Center should keep 1978 J&K assembly elections in view  , which  rigged to the annoyance of local youth and later became the cause of worst ever turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir . "Any such decision to usurp the democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir through proxy would be  unwise and against overall interests of the nation ," Hakeem Yaseen observed.(KNS)
