Srinagar, Mar 6 (KNS): A visually impaired candidate from Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district has cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025, officials said on Friday.
Irfan Ahmad Lone, a resident of Manzpora in the Naidkhai area of Bandipora, secured a place in the final list of successful candidates announced by the UPSC.
Lone, who has been visually impaired since birth, cleared the examination after several years of preparation, officials and local residents said.
Residents said Lone pursued his studies despite challenges associated with visual impairment and continued his preparation for the civil services examination.
The UPSC declared the results of the Civil Services Examination 2025 on Friday after completing the written main examination held in August last year and the personality tests conducted between December 2025 and February 2026.
Family members and locals congratulated Lone on the achievement, saying his success has brought recognition to the district and highlighted the possibilities for candidates with disabilities to compete in one of the country’s toughest examinations.(KNS).
