Chandigarh, Dec 22 (KNS): A Kashmiri youth, Murtaza Rasheed from Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, has approached authorities and filed complaints after allegedly being defrauded of rupees 65,000 by Prism Educational Services Pvt Ltd in Chandigarh, officials and sources said on Monday.
Rasheed, who was reportedly promised an Azerbaijan e-visa (AE105617955), an enrollment slip, and air tickets, discovered that the documents were fake.
The embassy of Azerbaijan confirmed the visa was invalid, and Rasheed alleged that the company directors, Harbalkaran Singh and Sumisha Sachdeva, issued threats when he demanded a refund.
According to his representative, Sheikh Salman, Rasheed first approached Sector 19 police station in Chandigarh, but officials refused to register a First Information Report (FIR) and redirected him to the ICMR portal.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He has since escalated the matter to the Chandigarh SSP, Cyber Cell, as well as SSP Sopore and Cyber PS Kashmir.
Rasheed has submitted copies of the police complaint along with evidence including forged documents, payment receipts, and the embassy confirmation email.
His representative has appealed for urgent media coverage to alert youth in Jammu and Kashmir about similar visa scams and urged authorities to coordinate for recovery of funds and ensure the safety of victims.
Local police and cyber authorities have not yet issued a statement on the case.(KNS).
