 JAMMU, MARCH 15:(KNS)  Apni Party State General Secretary Vikram Malhotra has expressed his deep concern over the explosion which has consumed four lives of civilians and injured 15 others at Residency Road last evening in a cylinder blast.

In a statement to the press Malhotra expressed his sympathy with the bereaved family members and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.

He demanded compensation to the next of kins of the deceased and ex-gratia for all the victims including injured persons. “The poor people should be provided specialized medical care,” he said.

He, however, lauded the role of J&K Police and locals for their prompt response to the fire incident and their timely rescue operation. The local police team led by SP City and SDPO concerned were among those who shall be awarded for their timely action.

Meanwhile, he said that the Fire and Emergency Department should hold a survey in Jammu City’s congested lanes such vulnerable places ahead of summer season.

“The lanes are very congested and it makes the fire and emergency service’s response to the fire incidents as the vehicles are unable to reach the place in case such incidents happen during the day time when the markets are full of customers and shops are open,” he said.

He also sought action against the illegal parking in these places to ensure the free flow of traffic movement. He said that the authorities should constitute a committee to review the situation and come out with a report so that such a horrific incident can be avoided within the Jammu city.(KNS)
