Vendors Encroaching the Roads in nexus with Traffic Police: CCIK

Srinagar, June 27 (KNS): Riled over the extreme drop in sales due to parking restrictions CCIK in press statement stated that on one hand the shopkeepers in different markets of Srinagar are struggling for survival of businesses with lockdown restrictions and on the other hand the traffic police is prohibiting parking of single lane parking in front of shops.
In a statement to KNS CCIK said the shopkeepers said the shops are at the verge of closure due to constant harassment of customers by Traffic police in the name of traffic management. The parking ban has taken a toll on our Business and harassment is aimed only on shopkeepers and to our surprise no action is been taken on street vendors who are rather occupying the roads, footpaths and even are being encouraged by these traffic cops to open stalls everywhere on the roads and markets.
The traffic police in nexus with street vendors are deliberately creating chaos and are not able to clear the dedicated parking space occupied by street vendors in front of shops.
The administration has earlier assured that visitors to various markets won't be harassed as they would strictly ensure that no vendor encroaches upon the footpaths, parking spaces in front of shops and markets but our customers and shopkeepers are facing huge inconvenience by Traffic police.
The major bottlenecks for traffic management and traffic signals in city is in very bad shape and the traffic personnels instead of showing their performance in managing flow of traffic are indulging in mismanagement by encouraging street vendors and discouraging the shoppers.
Adding to the misery of the people the J&K police have also created unnecessary barricades at various city roads as if we are in war like situation with Virus and these barricades are mere creating hurdles for commutators.
