Kupwara, Nov 25 (KNS): Forest protection force on Thursday seized illicit timber along with a vehicle in Mughalpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that acting on a tip off, Forest Protection Force from Kupwara K-06 gamma unit seized a vehicle along with illicit timber Deodar sawn 17 cfts, from Mughalpora during night hours.

“Owner and driver managed to escape from the spot. Later, an operation was launched by joint team of FPF and territorial in which house of culprit namely Ghulam Ahmad of Mughalpora was raided, which led to further seizure of 5 cfts,” he said.

He said that legal proceedings have been initiated in the instant case against culprits under Indian Forest Act. (KNS)
