Srinagar April 26 (KNS): Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat,Vice Chairperson, J&K KVIB chaired the Bankers review meeting of KVIB Jammu Division at JLN Udyog Bhawan, Bahu Plaza Jammu under the banner of G-20 Summit.
The meeting was attended by Senior Officers from the Board, besides officers from the participating banks and district officers of KVIB Jammu division.
In the meeting, achievement of KVIB Jammu Division for the year 2022-23 under both the schemes being implemented by KVIB i.e, Prime Minister's
Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and J&K Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) was discussed.
The meeting highlighted that 1576 Nos. of units under PMEGP and 408 Nos. of units under JKREGP were established during 2022-23 involving Margin Money (Subsidy) of Rs. 3722.56 lacs and Rs. 1035.56 lacs which created employment opportunities to 12608 persons and 2448 persons respectively.
The Vice Chairperson, J&K KVIB applauded the role of participating banks in the successful implementation of both the programmes of KVIB but cautioned them to refrain from rejecting cases
on flimsy grounds. She urged the bankers to give aspirants belonging to women and marginalized sections of society preferential treatment by processing their cases on priority.
The Vice Chairperson also emphasized the importance of efforts by implementing agency and banks to ensure that the benefits of employment generation programmes such as PMEGP and JKREGP reach the target population.(KNS)
