Srinagar, Apr 19 (KNS): Anti poaching team of Forest Protection Force Bandipora on Tuesday seized a unique gun-fitted boat used in poaching of birds in Lankreshipora village along the eastern flank of the Wular Lake.
According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), today Anti poaching Control Room of FPF Bandipora along with reinforcement from unit headquarters during sustained area dominance exercise in and around Wular lake seized the gun-fitted boat.
The statement reads that DD FPF personally along with AD operations supervised the field operation in Lankrishpora, a hamlet surrounding eastern flank of the lake and tried to bust a wildlife poaching activity but the involved poacher managed to give slip to them.
It reads that the party, however, was able to seize one long single barrel gun, arms store and a small boat from the scene of crime.
“The uniqueness of this operation is that the seized boat is the first of its kind in the valley that was gun fitted and was used in wild life crime activity in the wetland area,” it reads.
It further reads that investigation has been taken up to identify the kingpin of this wildlife crime syndicate operating in the district. (KNS)
