Srinagar, Nov 11 (KNS): An unidentified militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter that broke out in Bemina area of Srinagar on Thursday late night, police said here.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that joint team of forces cordoned off Bemina locality following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the militants zeroed in on the suspected spot, hiding militants opened fire upon them, which was retaliated to, triggering an encounter.

The official said that in the ensuing encounter an unidentified militant has been killed while further operation was going on.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Zone Police on its official Twitter handle said that a militant has been killed on an AK-47 rifle was also recovered.

“SrinagarEncounterUpdate: 01 unidentified #terrorist killed. 01 AK rifle alongwith ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” Police Tweeted. (KNS)
