Two smugglers held in Rafiabad, illicit timber also recovered: Police

Sopore, Oct 06 (KNS): Two timber smugglers were arrested and illicit timber was also recovered from their possession in Rafiabad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday, police said here.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that acting on a specific input a team of police headed by SHO Mudasir Shafi of Panzala police station upon intercepting a vehicle bearing registration number JKO5H-7897 at Rohama area of Rafiabad recovered large quantity of illicit forest timber and also arrested two smugglers. 

The officer identified the duo as Musadiq Farooq and Ubaid Farooq sons of Farooq Ahmad Dar of Malganipora Pazalpora. 

He said that a case FIR No. 111/2021 U/S 379 IPC & 26 Indian Forest Act has been registered in Police Station Panzla. (KNS)
