Srinager, July 24(KNS): Two militants were killed in a gunfight between security forces and militants in Shokbaba area of Sumlar forests in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Saturday morning. 

A senior police officer who was also a part of this operation told Kashmir News Service(KNS) that two unidentified militants have been killed in an ongoing operation in forest area of Sumlar. 

Earlier, officials said that a Joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation after “specific inputs” about presence of militants in the forest area of Shokbaba. 

“As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. Exchange of fire is going on, " they said. (KNS).
