Two militant associates arrested in Budgam, incriminating material recovered: Police

Budgam, Feb 15 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir police Monday claimed to have arrested two militant associates of two banned militant outfits of LeT and TUM in central Kashmir's Budgam district. 

  

In a statement issued to news agency KNS, a spokesprson said that on 14 February during a naka checking, Budgam police and 53 RR army arrested two militant associates of banned terror organization LET and TUM and recovered incriminating material including flags, banners and letter pad from their possession.

  

He identified them as Sameer Ahmed Ittoo and Ubaid Ameen Mallah both residents of Kulgam. "A case FIR No 6/2020 has been registered under relevant sections of UAPA in Police Station Chadoora."

 

He said that during the initial investigation it has come to the fore that these persons are involved in grenade lobbying incidents in Pulwama and Kulgam districts of south Kashmir, besides they were making posters, banners and flags of banned militant organizations on the directions of their handlers across borders for further distribution at various locations in Central and South Kashmir. 

 

"They were also actively involved in recruiting militants and OGWs with the aim to further militant activities in Budgam. Timely action by police and security forces has prevented major crimes in the area," he said. (KNS)
