Srinagar, Sep 14 (KNS): Security forces on Wednesday evening killed two local militants affiliated with AGuH outfit in an anti-militancy operation in Nowgam area of central kashmir's Srinagar on Wednesday evening. 
 
The police in it's statement said that acting on specific information generated by Police regarding the presence of terrorists in Dangerpora area of Nowgam in district Srinagar, a joint cordon & search operation was launched by Police and Army (50RR) in the said area.
 
"During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter," he said. 
 
"In the ensuing encounter, 02 terrorists were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. They have been identified as Aijaz Rasool Najar of Pulwama and Shahid Ahmad @Abu Hamza," he said. 
 
"As per police records, both the killed terrorists were categorized terrorists and were linked with proscribed terror outfit AGuH. Both the killed terrorists were involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on Police/security forces and civilian atrocities. Besides, they were also involved in recent attack on an outside labourer namely Muneer ul Islam of West Bengal on 02/09/2022 at Ugergund Newa area of Pulwama," the police said. 
 
"Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 AK series rifle, 02 Pistols and 01 Grenade were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation," it said. 
 
"In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated. People are requested to cooperate with Police till the area at encounter site is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any," it said.(KNS).
