Traffic will resume after power connectivity is restored: SP Ramban

Ramban, Dec 09 (KNS): The traffic movement inside Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, was on Friday suspended due to a power breakdown inside the tunnel, officials told KNS.

They said that traffic movement will resume after power connectivity is restored inside the tunnel.

The officials added the reason behind power shutdown inside the tunnel is yet to be known.

The tunnel is also known as Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Tunnel and was thrown open for vehicular movement in 2017. It is country's longest road tunnel with a length of 9.028 km (5.6 miles), and the country's first tunnel with a fully integrated tunnel control system.

The tunnel reduces the distance between Jammu and Srinagar by 30 km and travel time by two hours.

Meanwhile, SP Ramban, Mohita Sharma in a Tweet said: “Traffic will resume after power connectivity restores. Inconvenience is regretted”. (KNS)
