Traffic curbs on Gulmarg-Srinagar route during Amarnath Yatra

 Srinagar, Jun 30 (KNS): Police on Tuesday advised tourists visiting the hill resort of Gulmarg to adhere to traffic restrictions imposed during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, saying no tourist vehicles will be allowed to ply between Gulmarg and Srinagar after 5 pm throughout the pilgrimage period.

 
In a public advisory, Police Baramulla said the restrictions have been imposed to ensure the safe and smooth movement of Amarnath Yatra convoys and to facilitate traffic management along the route.
 
According to the advisory, no tourist vehicle will be permitted to travel from Gulmarg towards Srinagar after 5 pm. Similarly, tourist vehicles will not be allowed to proceed from Srinagar towards Gulmarg after the same time during the notified Yatra period.
 
Police urged tourists to plan their journeys in advance and complete both onward and return travel within the prescribed timings to avoid inconvenience.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
The advisory asked visitors to follow the directions of police and traffic personnel deployed along the route, saying public cooperation was essential to maintain orderly traffic flow and ensure uninterrupted movement of the Yatra convoys.
 
Police said the restrictions had been imposed in the interest of public safety, traffic regulation and the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage, while expressing regret for any inconvenience caused.
 
Tourists, hoteliers, transport operators and the general public have also been urged to cooperate with the traffic regulations and plan their travel accordingly, it added.(KNS).
