Tourism dept. working on scientific methods of calculating tourists, hotels: Director Fazl ul Haseeb

Srinagar, Mar 04 (KNS): Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr. Fazl ul Haseeb on Saturday said the department is working on scientific methods of calculating tourists, and registered as well as un-registered hotels in J&K for imposition of consequent policies.


"We have good potential in tourism here. We are working on scientific methods of calculating tourists and registered and unregistered hotels in J&K so that consequent policies will be implemented," Director Tourism Dr. Fazl ul Haseeb as per KNS said while speaking on the sidelines of an event held in office of the Directorate of Tourism here.

He said this is the age of "big data" to impose consequent policies. "The collection of data is being done to enable smooth atmosphere for imposition of tourism related policies as we have vast potential across J&K" he said.

While replying to a query he said in the month of February this year the Kashmir witnessed good influx of tourists and the numbers will likely increase in March accordingly. "Kashmir valley witnessed 1.20 to 1.30 lac tourists in February this year while the number may likely go up in the ongoing March," he added.

Speaking further the Director Tourism said the department has started planning further as summer is about to come. "There are several festivals in the pipeline which will be held at Yusmarg, Pampore, Zabarwan and Tulip Garden and we expect good number of tourists in these festivals this year," he said. (KNS)
