Top HM district commander, active since 2018, killed in Pombai encounter: IGP

Srinagar, Nov 18 (KNS): The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar on Thursday said that top district commander of HM militant outfit was among three militants killed in the encounter Pombai village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district last night.

The Kashmir zone police quoting IGP Kashmir on its official Twitter handle said that Shakir Nazar, who was top militant and HM’s district commander, has been killed in the encounter in Pombai village.

IGP said that Shakir, who has been killed along with two more militants in the encounter, was active since 2018.

He termed his killing as a big success for the forces.

Notably, on Wednesday evening two encounters took place simultaneously in Pombai and Gopalpora villages of Kulgam district, in which, according to police, two top commanders among 5 militants were killed.

Police had said that top commander of TRF militant outfit was among two militants killed in Gopalpora village last evening, while top commander of HM was among three militants killed in Pombai village. (KNS)
