Pattan, Nov 15 (KNS): To minimize traffic mess especially during peaks hours, the authorities in Pattan area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district are mulling to start an alternative route for one-way traffic for light motor vehicle.

Official sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the temporary bypass has been started on a trail basis in order to minimize traffic mess on main Baramulla-Pattan highway particularly during peak hours.

They said that main highway has been witnessing huge traffic mess, thereby make commuters suffer a lot and causing inconvenience. "Now the one-way bypass will provide huge relief to the commuters and locals as well, as it will minimize the traffic mess through the main highway," they said.

They said that the alternate bypass route will start from ITI Pattan passing via railway Buran and will connect with the highway at Zangam flyover. "Only light motor vehicles from Baramulla to Srinagar will be allowed to ply on this route and no vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction (From Srinagar to Baramulla)," they said.

Sub-divisional magistrate Pattan, Syed Fahim Bihaqi told KNS that they have started the trail on the temporary one-way bypass and they have received a good response for this initiative.

"This route will minimize traffic mess during peak hours for smooth passage of vehicles on the National highway and will provide great relief to commuters. This project shall be completed within 15 days," he said. (KNS)
