Kupwara,April 12 (KNS): Three persons including a minor were killed on Sunday after mortar shell landed on a residential house in Chowkibal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), three persons including a minor were killed after heavy exchange fire took place in frontier sector of Chowkibal. Defense sources said that Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling in Chowkibal area and targeted civilian population after which a mortar shell landed on a residential house resulting the death of three persons who were identified as Zeeshan Bashir (minor), Shameema wife of Ghulam Mohammad Hajam and Javaid Ahmad Khan.

Eye witnesses said that in wee hours of Sunday Army brought huge contingment of trooops and erected heavy artrilery including tanks in the area that led to panic among masses.

Meanwhile police official while talking to KNS confirmed the civilian casualties. However firing was going on when this report was filed. (KNS)
