Srinagar, Mar 18 (KNS): National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah on Friday said that “The Kashmir Files” movie is based on lies and one of the biggest lies projected in the movie is that it has been wrongly shown there was NC government in 1990.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a workers convention in Kulgam, Omar said that in 1990 there was governor’s rule under VO Singh’s regime and there was no NC government then as has been projected in the movie.

He said that many lies have been projected in the movie, while its makers have claimed that the movie is based on true events.

Omar said that the movie has wrongly depicted that there was Nc government in 1990, when the fact is that there was governor’s rule in J&K when Kashmiri Pandits left the Valley. “At the Centre it was BJP backed government headed by VP Singh, while in J&K then governor was Jagmohan,” he said.

He also said that it is not that just Kashmiri Pandits were killed and they migrated, but Muslims and Sikhs too were killed and they too migrated from the Valley and some of them are yet to return.

“It is indeed regrettable that Pandits had to leave Kashmir that time but our party has played its role and continue to do the same for the safe return of Kashmiri Pandits to their home land,” he said. (KNS)
