Terrorism Ecosystem Dismantled for Lasting Peace: LG Sinha

Srinagar, Aug 14(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, said that the prolonged conflict tag in the region has been cynically exploited by certain individuals as a lucrative opportunity to enrich themselves, while the common people endured the brunt of suffering.

In an address at Sonmarg, Sinha, however, emphasized that Security Forces are tirelessly working to dismantle the terrorism ecosystem and establish lasting peace. Speaking at the inauguration of the Golden Glory Eco Park and other Meeri Maati Mera Desh events, Sinha asserted that the three-decade-long conflict was an alarming "business prospect" for those driven by self-interest, who prioritized personal gain over the welfare of the populace.

Sinha declared, "Security forces are now channeling their utmost efforts to quell terrorism entirely, aiming to secure a perpetual state of peace in J&K." He asserted that the people of J&K have the right to lead lives of freedom and choice, asserting the end of the era of coercion and unrest. Sinha dismissed any notions of revival of street violence, separatism, or terrorism, affirming that such matters are relics of the past.

Touching on government initiatives, Sinha stressed that impoverished citizens hold a primary entitlement to government schemes. He cited the example of the PMAY scheme, which provided land to 2,711 individuals in its initial phase, emphasizing that a home signifies not just a dwelling for the destitute, but a launchpad for the pursuit of dreams. He further said that 8,000 more people, primarily Bakerwals, qualify for land allocation under the scheme.

Sinha also noted the flourishing tourism industry in the region, revealing that a staggering 1 million tourists had already visited Sonmarg and Ganderbal this year. The presence of 130 home stays in the district offered economic opportunities for local residents, he said.

Also, Sinha acknowledged the significant role of Ganderbal in accommodating numerous Amarnath Yatris, underscoring that these pilgrims departed with a message of unity, serenity, and concord.(KNS).
