Compensate fruit growers for damages caused due to untimely snowfall: Vakil

Sopore October 21 (KNS):  J&K Peoples Conference Sr. Vice President and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil expressed deep concern over power crisis in the Valley said that unscheduled power cuts have aggravated woes of people in valley especially in Rafiabad and Sopore. He said winter is yet to begin and power crisis have already started. Despite a load-shedding schedule announced by the government, unscheduled and frequent power cuts continue unabated and people in general and students are facing massive inconvenience due to power cuts.There is no schedule for power which is causing lot of inconvenience to general public especially the old and ailing as well as students as their examinations are to be held in the month of March as announced by the government. Vakil was touring Rafiabad and Zainageer areas today. 
 
Vakil exhorted the UT government to take immediate  measures to tackle power crisis in the valley and implement its own schedule in letter and spirits So that people in general & students in particular will not suffer.
 
Vakil also expressed serious concern over the damage caused to apple crops due to untimely snowfall and heavy rains on thursday in the valley especially in Rafiabad, Sopore and Shopian areas. Vakil demanded a comprehensive economic package and compensation to the orchardists and farmers who suffered heavy losses due to untimely weather vagaries.]
 
Waiving of the KCC loan is the need of the hour at this crucial juncture which can be helpful to a great extent in reviving the fruit industry which is in shambles and strengthening the fruit grower, Vakil added.(KNS)
