Stranded people facing hardships: GA Mir

Calls for sympathetic and responsive system to facilitate their movement

Calls for sympathetic and responsive system to facilitate their movement

Jammu, May 10 (KNS):  Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief G A Mir on Sunday said that UT administration is totally mishandling the issue of stranded people including labourers,  students and others as a result the people of different categories have already undergone tremendous hardships and are still running from pillar to post to seek permissions.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mir while talking to media persons in Jammu took strong exceptions to the uncalled for and avoidable hardships being faced by different categories of stranded people due to the mismanagement and mishandling of the administration at different levels. An unsympathetic and non responsive system has added to the woes of the people, especially the poor and hapless sections particularly those stranded at different places.

Mir said that all people barring few, mainly privileged ones, have voluntarily obeyed the lockdown and the advisories of the govt of India and the UT administration from time to time. The minor violations are very minimal and sometimes due to the confusion, due to fast changing guidelines of the govt but those privileged ones who have done major violations are near the corridors of power.

He said that the stranded people have little access to the bureaucratic system which does not respond to the repeated requests by them, while the labourers mostly are unable to access the tedious system for permissions, under present circumstances of the situation. The government should immediately simplify and streamline the system for their easy approach and early permissions.
Similarly, the other stranded people in different states and within UT in different divisions and districts, having grave urgencies are not being responded to by the respective designated authorities, despite repeated reminders. This is totally unsympathetic and non responsive attitude of the officers and nodal officials, who don’t mostly respond.  The LG and higher authorities should get it verified and should listen to the protests and complaints of the suffering people on media and social media at least, since they don't listen to the voice of opposition at all,  despite all cooperation by the congress and others.

JKPCC Chief said that Congress party is fully involved in the relief operations in the J and K and entire country and over five lac people both in UT and elsewhere in the country belonging to Jk have been provided various types of help by the congress party through its chain of activities right from J and K to AICC to respective PCCs and frontal wings.

He added the congress party is arranging trains from different parts to send Jk people. Two such train are leaving Goa today evening and tomorrow. Likewise Rajasthan and chhatisgarh etc too are doing it but regretted that Jk govt is not sharing any data and requisite permissions for such people especially labourers, although thousands of labourers have contacted Congress control rooms at PCC and. districts levels. We are also forwarding such requests to tell concerned authorities but without proper response,  so that we could have facilitated their return.

Mir said the students and labourers have lodged their strong protests at the attitude and poor response of the administration and lack of facilities where ever they were brought or accommodated.
He made a special appeal to facilitate the permission and movement of stranded people from one district to another and one division to another especially from Jammu to Kashmir etc in view of the ongoing Ramzan and forthcoming festival of shab- e - qadr and  Eid - up- fitr.

He appealed to the administration to streamline the system,  make it efficient and responsive and simplify and make it people friendly,  to facilitate the suffering people to move from their respective places to their destinations in accordance with govt norms after due permissions, while extending full cooperation and constructive support in the matter.

Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, PCC General secretaries Incharge control room Yogesh Sawhney and Surinder Singh Channi and S S Shingari  besides Neeraj Gupta Secretary PCC  and sahil Sharma media coordinators were also present on the occasion. (KNS)
