Statements to consolidate Muslim votes by NC & PC are blatantly communal calls: Chrungoo

Jammu, Oct 04 (KNS): "Recent Statements by National Conference and Peoples Conference to consolidate Muslim votes in Jammu and Kashmir are blatantly communal calls and these have potential to vitiate the political and social atmosphere in the Union Territory", said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and KP leader, Incharge, Deptt of Political Feedback, BJP-J&K.

Chrungoo was reacting to the statement of Farooq Abdullah in which Abdullah said, "that attempts are being made to divide Muslim votes in J&K by propping up new political parties" and "Muslim votes need be consolidated under the banner of National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir".

As if it was not enough, Jammu and Kashmir People's Conference chairman Sajad Lone said, "If he (Abdullah) thinks that way, then let him not contest elections and support us" and added, "that way the Muslim votes will not get divided".

"These statements by the recognised Kashmir centric political parties in Jammu and Kashmir are reimnecsient of the statements and position of the J&K Muslim Conference in the pre-independence period. Political parties in a secular democracy like India are not authorised to make communal agenda or follow a communal appeal. This is highly objectionable and condemnable as well", added Chrungoo.

The 5-6 August 2019 developments in J&K have already taken away the secessionist and separatist political agenda from the political parties which they had been pursuing for a long time in order to reach the corridors of power. With effect from 2019-develoments, the nationalist and developmental agenda was brought before the common people by the government and the parliament of India. This challenge has been found tough by the Kashmir centric political parties and thus have they joined the competition to pursue the communal and sectarian agenda prior to the upcoming elections next year, explained the BJP leader.

"The socio-political atmosphere in the Union Territory would not be allowed to get vitiated particularly when the elections are due in the next six months once the delimitation process is over. The government is appealed to take all care in this regard and make it sure that appropriate action is taken against communal calls and agenda. The minority communities in the UT take these calls as an open threat to their existence", said Chrungoo. (KNS)
