Srinagar, Sep 04 (KNS): Congress senior leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi Wednesday said that restoration of Statehood to Jammu & Kashmir is the priority of Congress party.
He expressed these remarks while addressing an election rally in Ramban’s Sangaldan.
“Congress party is committed to restore the Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, and it is our priority,” Rahul Gandhi as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) said.
During his address, the Congress leader dubbed Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha as ‘raja’ (king) and accused the central government of giving the benefits meant for the people of J&K to outsiders.
“Today a king (raja) sits in Jammu & Kashmir. His name is LG, but he is a king,” Rahul said.
He added “The wealth and resources of J&K are being snatched and given to people from outside.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAll benefits are being given to outsiders,” he added.
He said Congress party is fully aware of the crisis the people of Jammu and Kashmir are going through. “We know your rights have been snatched. And we are committed that restoration of Statehood to J&K will be restored, as it is our priority,” he said.
He continued that Congress party wished for restoration of Statehood to J&K before the conduct of Assembly elections, but it did not happen. BJP was not willing and wanted the polls to be held first,” he said.
“We will ensure return of Statehood to the region, whether BJP wants it or not. The INDIA bloc will compel the government to ensure Statehood restoration to J&K,” Rahul added. (KNS)
