Srinagar, Mar 6 (KNS) : In the wake of the prevailing situation in the valley, the Srinagar Police on Friday issued an advisory urging media houses, social media users, and the general public to exercise utmost responsibility while reporting or sharing information on electronic and social media platforms.
The advisory stressed the need for restraint, asking all stakeholders to refrain from publishing unverified information, speculation, or rumours. "Ensure that all reports are confirmed through credible and authoritative sources before dissemination," the police said.
"The circulation of rumours, misinformation, or unverified content may cause unnecessary panic, disturb public order, and adversely affect communal harmony," the advisory read.
Srinagar Police further reiterated that strict legal action shall be initiated against any individual or entity found indulging in the spread of misinformation under the relevant provisions of law.
Appealing for public cooperation, the police urged all citizens to contribute towards maintaining peace, order, and harmony in the district. (KNS).
