Srinagar Police Bust Major Drug Syndicate; Properties Worth Over Rs 10 Crore Attached, 8 Arrested

Srinagar, Oct 1 (KNS): Police here on Thursday claimed to have busted a major inter-district narcotics and arms syndicate with the arrest of eight people and attachment of properties worth over Rs 10.5 crore in a case registered at the Safakadal police station here, officials said.
 
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) The case, FIR No. 135/2026, has been registered under sections 8, 21, 22, 29 and 27A of the NDPS Act, sections 3 and 4 of the Arms Act, and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Safakadal.
 
He said those arrested were identified as Mohammad Waseem Zargar, Haris Hameed Malla, Aqib Saleem Dar, Inam Ahmad Zargar, Sahib Ahmad Ganaie, Ansar Hussain Bhat, Peer Shakoor and Haroon Pandit.
 
Giving details of the recoveries, the official said 3.830 kg of Codeine, 40 grams of heroin, 414 tablets and capsules containing Tramadol, 21,850 tablets containing Tapentadol and 1,200 capsules containing Pregabalin were seized from the accused.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
"One pistol was also recovered from the possession of the accused," he said.
 
The police also recovered Rs 85.76 lakh in cash, besides 108 gold coins worth Rs 1.27 crore and 17 grams of MMT/PAP jewellery valued at Rs 2.54 lakh. The total value of the seized gold and jewellery stands at Rs 1.05 crore approximately, the officer said.
 
The police said Rs 1.07 crore has been frozen in multiple bank accounts linked to the accused. A residential house belonging to prime accused Mohammad Waseem Zargar at Patlipora, Chattabal, has been attached along with two vehicles — a Maruti Brezza (JK01AK-7523) and a Suzuki Ertiga (JK01AX-4601).
 
One accused, Faizan Firdous Khanda of Malik Sahar, Safakadal, has been declared absconding, and efforts are on to arrest him, the officer said, adding that further investigation into the forward and backward linkages of the syndicate is underway. (KNS)
