Srinagar breaks seven year old lowest temperature record, records as low 15° C

 
 
Srinagar, June 21 (KNS): With continuous rainfall today Srinagar on Tuesday recorded the lowest maximum temperature of 15° C, breaking the last seven year lowest maximum temperature of 15.2° C recorded on 4-06-2015, said weather officials.
 
Deputy Director Meteorological department Kashmir Mukthar Ahmed while speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service—KNS said that Tuesday’s temperature of 15° has recorded the lowest maximum temperature in the last seven years which has broken the last seven year record of 15.2°C recorded on 4.6.2015.
 
“The rains in the valley have brought down the mercury, however the temperature in Srinagar has been recorded as the lowest maximum temperature of 15° C breaking the last seven years record which was recorded as low as 15.2° C on  4.6.2015”, he said.
 
MET Srinagar in an official handout said, “Temperature today, at 15°C, Srinagar broke last 7 yrs.  Lowest Max. Temp. 15.2°C recorded on 4.6.2015”.
 
The MET officials further said that as expected, light to Moderate Rain occurred at most places and forecasted that Rainfall is likely to continue till tomorrow forenoon.
 
“We expect a gradual decrease in rainfall intensity after the next 2-3 hrs. Significant improvement from 22nd forenoon. From 23rd onward, there's NO forecast of any major rainfall till next one week”, they added.(KNS)
