Srinagar, Apr 16 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran Tuesday expressed sadness over loss of precious lives in Srinagar boat capsize tragedy, and termed it “painful”.

“I am deeply saddened over loss of precious lives in boat capsize tragedy in Gundbal Batwara today. This is painful and heartbreaking, and words fall short to express empathy with affected families who lost their loved ones,” former Deputy Mayor said.

He said there was a long pending demand of footbridge in the area but despite seven years are over authorities had failed to address the genuine demand of people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“This is a matter of grave concern that public demand was left unattended for years. There should be a thorough investigation into the matter why construction of footbridge was delayed repeatedly. Those involved in playing with human lives should be taken to task sternly,” he said.

He urged LG led administration to take up the left out construction work of the footbridge without any further delay, and requested authorities to provide adequate compensation to affected families who lost their young and old in the tragic incident. (KNS)
