Srinagar admin bags certificate of FSSAI excellence award

Srinagar June 10 (KNS) Srinagar district has been awarded certificate of excellence for its exemplary performance as one of the finalists among top 75 winners throughout the country for implementation of Food Safety and Standards Authority’s flagship program Eat Right Challenge. This challenge was headed by The District Development Commissioner Ajaz Asad. and Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar Hilal Ahmad Mir as its Nodal Officer under the overall supervision of Commissioner FDA Shakeel ur Rehman, who received the award and Certificate from the Union Health Minister Mr Mansukh Mandaviya at a function held in New Delhi..
Eat Right Challenge which is also called Eat Right Movement was envisioned as a competition among districts to recognize their efforts in adopting and scaling up various activities under Eat Right India movement. These activities included strengthening food safety through the food regulatory environment, to provide for safe and healthier food options by enabling the supply side and to engage with citizens for adaptation and demanding healthier diets. The activities which were carried out under this challenge included Registration and licensing drives, Surveillance drives, lifting of enforcement samples, Special camps for consumer awareness , Hygiene Rating, Clean Street Food, No Food Waste Certification ,Reusing of Cooking Oil, training to Asha Workers,Anganwadi Workers, Eat Right School, Eat Right Campuses, promotion of Eat Right messages etc.Targets fixed by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India were satisfactorily achieved with District Srinagar figuring in top 10 districts.
